The Bucyrus Area YMCA 2000 Spring Triathlon was held on Saturday, May 27, 2000.  The race consisted of a 500-yard pool swim, a 12-mile bike ride, and a 3.5-mile run.  Competitors participated as individuals, or as 2 or 3-person teams.  Despite an overcast and windy day with the threat of rain we had a field of 29 competitors (17 individuals and 4 teams) complete the event.  Refreshments were served and awards were passed out at the end of the event, and we feel that a good time was had by all.

We would like to thank the Triathlon committee members for helping put the race together:  Matt Bruns, Tom Moon, Carol Holter, and Liz Dolan.  We would also like to thank those individuals who helped out on the race course and in race preparation:  Judy Osborne, Bob Thiel, Brett Mutchler, Denny Mutchler, John Hord, Rick Peters, Jim Butt, Karen Dolan, Greg Dolan, Bill Blicke, Andy Motter, and Leslie Motter.  Thanks also go out to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department for their support.  Finally, a special thank-you goes out to our resident Triathlon expert, Joe Noblet, for his assistance and advice.

We would also like to recognize our sponsors—without their generous support, this event would not be possible:

General Electric

United Bank

Bucyrus Blades

First Federal Savings and Loan

Whetstone Animal Hospital

Vasil’s Fashions

The Trophy House

We hope to see everyone back next year!
