Tiny Tumblers

A 45-minute class to build your child's strength, flexibility, balance and body awareness through beginner gymnastic activities.  For ages 3 to 4.

Skeeters, Rollers, & Swingers

  • Skeeters & Rollers (Levels 1 & 2):  Children ages 5 and older will spend 45 minutes developing strength, flexibility, coordination, and self-confidence by mastering fundamental gymnastic skills.  No previous gymnastic experience required to join class!

  • Swingers (Level 3):  Class is for children who have successfully passed the Rollers level.  1 hour will be spent developing beginner to intermediate level gymnastic skills.

Gymnastics Team

  • This class is designed for those who enjoy gymnastics and are interested in advancing to a competitive level. 

  • For kids ages 6 and up who enjoy gymnastics and the fun of competition. Self-improvement along with compulsory routines will be taught. 

  • Team members must be members of the YMCA.

Cheer Gym

For girls in grades 7 –12 who are currently on a junior high or high school cheerleading squad.  This class builds on tumbling skills that are needed for cheerleading.  Class size is limited to 10 participants, so register early.

About our Coaches

Rhonda and Steve Miller have been teaching gymnastics at the Bucyrus YMCA since 1983.  In 1986, they took over the head coaching position when the former coach relocated.  Beside teaching the progressive classes at the Y, the Millers also coach the Bucyrus YMCA Aerials Gymnastic Team.  They have had an average of 25 gymnasts on the team each year.  The team competes at the District, State and National level.  While other Y’s continually lose their programs, Bucyrus has managed to keep the program going strong.

Their training in gymnastics has included attending numerous camps and clinics throughout the years.  They have trained under several National level college coaches such as Ohio State, Nebraska, Penn State, Rhode Island, and South Carolina, just to name a few. Their continuing education also includes clinics, videos, and periodicals pertaining to the sport.

Rhonda serves as President of the Northwest Ohio Coaches Association, a position she has held position since 1995.  She is also a commissioner for the State of Ohio, representing the Northwest Ohio District for the YMCA of the USA ; this position she has held since 1994.  Rhonda is also employed by the Delaware City Schools as an educational aide for a multi-handicapped classroom.

Steve is also employed at the Timken Bearing plant in Bucyrus, where he has worked  for the past 33 yrs.  He and Rhonda have two grown children, and two grandchildren.  Besides gymnastics, they are also avid golfers.
